Where Is Everybody?

You may have checked our live webcam and noticed that it seems nothing is happening on our construction site! Your eyes aren’t deceiving you.. We are in a HOLDING PATTERN right now.

Rock Moves Building

Remember how shallow that Blue Granite was? It was RIGHT AT the surface in some spots, causing us to have to blast numerous times in order to get our storm drains all in. The main part of that is done, at this point.

It has been determined that the best thing to do for parking lot water runoff is to raise building itself by one foot. This will be less expensive than having to get rid of any more rock. All we have to do is build up a compacted dirt pad, then dig our footers and start pouring concrete!

Here’s the catch. We have PLENTY of dirt right here on our site to add 12″ under the building. BUT that dirt has to pass a compaction test to satisfy the engineers, the government, and everybody. So our soils engineer, who gave us a bunch of soils samples just has to give us a compaction report and certify that our dirt is good! It SHOULD be no problem, but we have been waiting for a couple of weeks for that report. We can’t do anything else on that property until we obtain that positive certification. Hence, pause in progress.

Our construction superintendent, Ian, was in Marietta this morning, trying to get that report from the soils engineer. Hopefully he will return with it today, and we can get started again!
