Hebrews 5:12–14 (NLT)
You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food. 13 For someone who lives on milk is still an infant and doesn’t know how to do what is right. 14 Solid food is for those who are mature, who through training have the skill to recognize the difference between right and wrong.
What are some signs (in real life) that someone is living on “milk” instead of “solid food”?
Sometimes, like last week, the lifegroup discussion questions don’t publish (even though I PROMISE they were set to publish on Sunday morning!!! ) No explanation other than technology fails us.
So, when that happens on the blog page. What happens to you? Do you need the discussion questions? Are you stuck waiting for these to spoon-feed you, or can you go to the Scripture and explore these ideas together on your own? Read Hebrews 5:12 again and discuss.
What is one step you can take toward “solid food” this week?
Jeremiah 15:16 (NLT)
When I discovered your words, I devoured them.
They are my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name,
O Lord God of Heaven’s Armies.
What does it look like to “devour” God’s Word (not just read it)? What’s the difference?
Romans 8:5–6 (NLT)
Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. 6 So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
I have an adult friend with an extremely negative mother. She is difficult and always bringing everyone down around her with her negativity. When my friend is around her mom, she becomes negative about things as well. Her mom influences her significantly.
How does what you think about most shape your courage, peace, and choices? What “input” (shows, apps, conversations) is feeding your mind right now?
Colossians 3:16–17 (NLT)
Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. 17 And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.
What kind of fruit or strength should show up when someone is regularly in the Word?
Proverbs 4:20–22 (NLT)
My child, pay attention to what I say. Listen carefully to my words.
21 Don’t lose sight of them.
Let them penetrate deep into your heart,
22 for they bring life to those who find them,
and healing to their whole body.
Ephesians 6:17 (NLT)
Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Why do you think God connects His Word to both your heart and your battle? How is Scripture like a weapon in everyday life?
Psalm 23:1–3 (NLT)
The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need.
2 He lets me rest in green meadows;
he leads me beside peaceful streams.
3 He renews my strength.
He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.
When I am out of energy, exhausted, I often eat. Don’t you? God feeds and restores His people. When you feel drained, what do you usually “eat” to cope? What could it look like to come to Jesus and His Word first for strength?

Go to Israel with me!
Walk where Jesus walked in May, 2027! It will be the trip of a lifetime.
I took this picture while there a few years ago. You’ll stand in the same spot!
I’m having an Israel Interest meeting at 6PM on Sunday, April 19 at the church. Get all the info, and ask all your questions there! Put it on your calendar.
