The Wrong Argument

Hey, before we get started, I have asked lifegroup leaders to have a special discussion with you this week about a serious seating problem our church has.  You can find my short article on this, and data for you to discuss RIGHT HERE.

One more thing… I just wanted to let you know that I am “sneaking in” two extra messages in this “Do We Even Need God” series… This one, and the one this coming week, called “Mix and Match.”  If you had any kind of significant reaction to this week’s message, you will really be into next week’s.  I hope you will join us on Sunday.

Discussion Questions

How did it initially strike you on Sunday, when I said “The Bible tells me so” is the wrong argument?

How is “The Bible tells me so” like or unlike the faith you grew up in?

What questions or concerns have you had about The Bible, or parts of it?

Do you believe those questions must be resolved before you can believe in what Jesus did?

How do you think those 1st, 2nd, and 3rd century christians managed to deal with their significant hardship and managed to change the world as they knew it?

Why do you think it seems the opposite for us? (not significant hardship, and not changing the world… Instead, doesn’t the world seem to be changing us?)

How do you now feel about the idea that our faith is not in a book, but in a person?
