Before we get started, I just wanted to make sure you were aware of our plans to return and restart live, in-person worship services. We’ll start the first weekend of June.
We have a good, three-phase plan to get going again. Have you had a look at it yet? You’ll find the details at http://www.theorchard.life/returnandrestart
But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Romans 1:18-20 NLT
My worldview, philosophy of life… It is the lens through which I see literally everything.Everybody has one. Some are well-formed, some not so much.
You will interpret everything you experience through that lens. Your life will order itself around your worldview.
In verse 20, Paul is saying that if we have the correct worldview, God is obvious all around us, in everything we can see. Unfortunately, God’s light is obscured by what one thing?
How does our sin obscure God’s glory?
What does this have to do with my worldview?
On Sunday, I tried to make the case that we all live by a delusional worldview. What does this mean? How do we tend to delude ourselves into thinking the world is not about God, but about me?
For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory.
Romans 11:36 NLT
The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they make him known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard. Yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world.
Psalm 19:1-4
ON Sunday, I described my worldview as a “21st century worldview…” But it isn’t really, is it? Where did this “me first” worldview begin?
The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too.
Genesis 3:6 (NLT)
If God hates sin, why don’t I?
Why do we glorify this worldview so much?
How can I express the truth, rather than suppress the truth?
