On Sunday, I talked about the difference between magnifying with a microscope vs. magnifying with a telescope. What did you take away from that?
Had you ever heard of a Tardigrade before?
Let’s read a few verses from Isaiah about the nature of God and his relationship with us.
But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you.
Isaiah 43:1-2 NLT
O Israel, the one who formed you says,
“Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.
I have called you by name; you are mine.
2 When you go through deep waters,
I will be with you.
When you go through rivers of difficulty,
you will not drown.
When you walk through the fire of oppression,
you will not be burned up;
the flames will not consume you.
What does this passage tell you about the character of God?
What does this passage tell you about the nature of our relationship with God?
God continues to speak through Isaiah…
For I am the Lord, your God,
Isaiah 43:3-6 NLT
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
I gave Egypt as a ransom for your freedom;
I gave Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
4 Others were given in exchange for you.
I traded their lives for yours
because you are precious to me.
You are honored, and I love you.
5 “Do not be afraid, for I am with you.
I will gather you and your children from east and west.
6 I will say to the north and south,
‘Bring my sons and daughters back to Israel
from the distant corners of the earth.
What kinds of promises does God make in this passage?
God wants bring restoration and peace to a disunified, broken people. How is this like his plan for us today?
Bring all who claim me as their God,
Isaiah 43:7 NLT
for I have made them for my glory.
It was I who created them.’ ”
What has God created us for?
It is easy for us to separate the “sacred” and the “secular.” We tend to think about glorifying God at church, in corporate worship… But is that the main idea of what it means to worship him? To glorify him?
So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31 NLT
What does this mean for us? How should our work reflect the glory of God?
How should our relationships reflect the glory of God?
What is a step to take this week to magnify Him in our lives a little more?
