Super Tailgate Sunday
I am really excited about the Super Tailgate Sunday. This is going to be our way to celebrate what God is doing in and through us!
Know God Crash Course
This is a great little 4-week course that I put together a couple of years ago. It has been a while since we’ve done it, and I have had several requests.
- How can I possibly know GOD?
- What is He really like?
- Can I ever truly understand Him?
- Why is He the way He is?
- What is His plan really like?
This short course will take place on Sunday evenings at 6pm for four weeks, beginning February 21. It is free and open to everyone. Join me!
Lifegroup Discussion Questions
What is something in your life that has required you to persevere and go the distance through difficulty?
What kinds of things make it challenging to persevere in your relationship with God?
Persevering in our faith means that God’s character is increasingly being revealed in us.
What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won’t he also give us everything else?
Romans 8:31-32 NLT
What does it mean that God is for you? If you are “for” someone or something, what does that mean?
Paul cites the best ever example of God being for us in this passage. Why is this significant?
Since He gave us His Son, “won’t he also give us everything else?” What do you need? How much power does God give to meet those needs?
How has the old man tried to defeat you when it comes to your specific needs?
How can the certainty of God’s love, as illustrated in Romans 8, help you fight off the enemy’s attack?
Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? No one—for God himself has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? No one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and he is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.
Romans 8:33-34 NLT
What is the work of Christ on behalf of believers? How is this work evidence of God’s unwavering love for us?
So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus.
Romans 8:1 NLT
So.. Just to be clear.. How much condemnation is there still remaining for those of us who belong to Christ Jesus?
Okay.. Just wanted to clear that up.
Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.
Romans 8:35-39 NLT
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Of these things that can’t separate us from the love of Christ, are there any that stand out to you the most? Why? Share an example from your own experience to support your point.
Why can these things not separate us from the love of Christ?
In the middle of all this, there is this little parenthetical statement about being “killed,” and “slaughtered.” How does that relate to the rest of all this?
What role does the Holy Spirit play in keeping believers connected to Christ’s love?
What do these verses teach about the power of God’s love in the life of a believer?
What evidence of God’s love do you see in your own life?
What difference does trusting in God’s love for you make as you try to persevere through difficult times?
How will you trust God more this week?
