Lifegroup Discussion: One Lord

SunClouds01

You really have to hear this week’s message to be able to take part in tonight’s discussion.  If you missed it, you can listen at the link below.

On Sunday, Steve talked about Jesus being the “Lord” of our lives, but that we really don’t know what “Lord” means these days.  What does the Greek word “Kurios” (lord) mean?  We aren’t very comfortable talking about being “owned” by someone, are we?  How did that line of thought strike you on Sunday?

Read Romans 6:16.  Is this statement true?  As a believer, do I allow myself to become “enslaved” to other things besides God?  What are some things that we tend to become enslaved to?  What are the things that consume our time, attention, and affection?

When we allow ourselves to be enslaved to sin, what are we saying about ourselves?  What are we saying about God?

According to Romans 6:19-23, what are the differences between being enslaved to the world vs. being enslaved to God?

1 Corinthians 6:20 says “God bought you with a high price.”  When I remain enslaved to the things of this world, who have I sold myself to?  At what price?  The truth is, that I become a slave to this world by selling out cheap.  I sell out for worry, for bitterness, for insecurity, for faithlessness.  When I become his, he pays the absolute PREMIUM PRICE for me.  What should that say about the way God values me?

Read the whole verse (1 Cor 6:20.)  How can I do what it says?
