Let’s Pray

Tonight’s life group is going to be a little different. Less talking with each other, more talking with God.

First, though, I just wanted to make sure you had access to the awesome content from “The Return.” At this amazing conference in DC, we heard a LOT of great messages and prayers all about repenting as the Body of Christ, and as a nation. This has been so refreshing to me, so I wanted you to be able to watch it also. Just tap the image below to get there.

We are the Body of Christ. We alone stand for what is true, and we alone have access to the throne to intercede on behalf of all people around us.. In Gilmer County, and in our nation.

We don’t want to be like the people of Israel, forsaking their responsibility to stand in the gap, do we? Do you?

I looked for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness that guards the land. I searched for someone to stand in the gap in the wall so I wouldn’t have to destroy the land, but I found no one.

Ezekiel 22:30 NLT

Let us be the ones to stand, to rebuild, to have a gospel response in this time of crisis in our nation, in our world. Can we just pray through some scriptures together tonight in our life group?

Below, you’ll find three sections of scripture to pray through. Take some time as a group.. Use these verses as a Biblical prayer guide to pray for our nation. Don’t feel restricted by these! Pray along these good guidelines, but also pour your heart out to God however you feel led to pray.

Start out by putting him first

Come, let us worship and bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker, for he is our God. We are the people he watches over, the flock under his care.

Psalm 95:6-7 NLT

You are worthy, O Lord our God,
to receive glory and honor and power.
For you created all things,
and they exist because you created what you pleased.”

Revelation 4:11 NLT

Honor the Lord for the glory of his name.
Worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

Psalm 29:2 NLT

Lift up each other

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.

1 Timothy 2:1-2 NLT

Respect everyone, and love the family of believers. Fear God, and respect the king.

1 Peter 2:17 NLT

Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished.

Romans 13:1-2 NLT

And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.”

Jeremiah 29:7 NLT

Pray for our Leaders

Now then, you kings, act wisely! Be warned, you rulers of the earth!
Serve the Lord with reverent fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Psalm 2:10-11 NLT

Without wise leadership, a nation falls; there is safety in having many advisers.

Proverbs 11:14 NLT

He builds up nations, and he destroys them. He expands nations, and he abandons them.

Job 12:23 NLT

My child, listen to what I say, and treasure my commands.
Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding.
Cry out for insight, and ask for understanding.
Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures.
Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.
For the Lord grants wisdom!
From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He grants a treasure of common sense to the honest. He is a shield to those who walk with integrity.
He guards the paths of the just and protects those who are faithful to him.

Proverbs 2:1-8 NLT
