Taking care of moms
Before we begin our discussion, I’d like your group to have a look at this little 5-minute video and discuss together how you can be involved in ministry to moms in recovery this coming Mother’s Day.
Here is a quick link to the web page where you can sign up right now to be part of this!
Gender Roles
What is one way you and your spouse are different?
Did you two fall in love in some part because of those differences?
What about the role of “helper?” How does that sit with you?
Have a look at how this concept is used in the Scripture… Read these verses and then talk about how that same concept can/should be applied to wives.
Exodus 18:4 NLT
The God of my ancestors was my helper; he rescued me from the sword of Pharaoh.”
Amos 5:14 NLT
Do what is good and run from evil so that you may live! Then the Lord God of Heaven’s Armies will be your helper…
Psalm 46:1 NLT
God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.
Hebrews 4:16 NLT
So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.
Do you see this as an empowering idea, or an oppressive one?
Why is this so distateful to the world in 21st century America?
Colossians 3:19 NLT
Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord.
Husbands, what does our wives’ submission demand of us?
