This entire passage that we’ve been studying (Ephesians 2:11-22) has been all about living in UNITY with each other in the church. Is unity in the church an important value in the Scripture?
(See Psalm 133:1-3, Romas 12:16, 1 Peter 3:8)

Why is it so hard for us to actually live this way?

We don’t pursue unity for the sake of unity, though… Do we? In Genesis 11:1-4, we definitely found the people of the world unified. What were they unified in? What did they set out to accomplish… More importantly, WHO were they trying to “make famous?”

What was God’s response to them in Genesis 11:5-9? Why did God do this? Note the phrase, “nothing will be impossible…” What is he talking about here? Is God threatened by their accomplishments? Does God feel the need to keep our power and ability limited?

Read Jesus’ prayer for all believers in John 17:20-23… Jesus clearly prayed that our unity would be the RESULT of something much bigger than just a desire to get along… What is that?

How do I need to be praying about being unified in the Holy Spirit with my Christian brothers and sisters?
