Chapter 8: Practiced

This coming Sunday will be EASTER! We’ll celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ in a big way, on the Gilmer High School football field. It will be a great morning of worship together.

Rain Plan

We DO have an Easter “rain plan…” We ARE planning to set up quite a bit of sound equipment and instruments that are highly sensitive to moisture, so bad weather could force us to move indoors.

In the event that weather is bad, we will have THREE Easter services in our church auditorium on our NEW schedule, 8:30, 10:00, & 11:30. Children’s stuff will happen at 10:00 and 11:30.

If we have to make this decision, we will communicate through our usual channels… Facebook, email, and of course, at theorchard.life

Feet shod

Having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.

For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared.

Ephesians 6:15

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.

1 Peter 3:15

Can you give a logical defense?

Know your Weapons –

How do you practice to preach?

And is prayer an integral part of this?

How does the law serve as “a most necessary and blessed purpose” in bringing the gospel to unbelievers?

What isn’t said and missed opportunities –

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed.

1 Peter 2:24

Mr. Comfort discusses the speech Rep. Steve Scalise gave to Congress after his recovery from a targeted shooting. As Mr. Comfort points out, Mr. Scalise “unashamedly spoke about prayer and God”.

What did Mr. Scalise not include in his speech?

How would the inclusion of Christ crucified and Christ resurrected affected Mr. Scalise’s speech, specifically in regard to prayer and God’s deliverance in that tragic situation?

Discuss some of your missed opportunities and what you would say differently.

Where are opportunities in your everyday living to bring the gospel to a conversation?

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.

2 Timothy 2:14

What is the key to giving sinners answers to their questions? (pg. 131)
