Have you ever met someone who believed that the sole priorty of the Sovereign, Triune God was to make them happy? How did that conversation go?
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
-Jesus, quoting Isaiah in Luke 4:18-19
because He has anointed me
to proclaim the good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovering of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed,
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.
In Luke 4:18, 19 we find Jesus’ summation of who the gospel is for.
Starting with the last paragraph on page 36 in your book, discuss the scriptural definitions Mr. Comfort references for each of the 5 categories of the summation.
There is a series of questions asked by an atheist as found in the middle paragraph on pg. 38. Answer those questions.
As Christians, what should be the source of our joy, and why? Convey that to an unbeliever.
