Do Something About It

On Sunday morning, we talked about four levels that our church should be involved in “doing something about” the issue of human dignity.

International Level

30-Hour Famine

On October 16-17, our students will be experiencing a “30-hour famine,” where they will fast together to take action for the Kingdom!  They’ll be raising prayer, awareness, and money to bring the Kingdom by partnering with World Vision to fight hunger on an international level.  hunger-map2
Get involved by taking a PRAYER WINDOW for students during the event. (if you need a login, just hit “sign up” on the login page)  Also, you can PLEDGE to help fight hunger on our website right here.

National Level

Vote Gospel Issues

We take a stand for key Gospel issues like human dignity, religious liberty, and the family unit.  The Christian Voter Guide will be a great resource for you to be informed as we get closer to the big election next year.

Local Level

Hope Tree

Phase One: Clothes for Kids at School

We are really happy to be able to work with our local schools to help meet students’ needs. Each year, guidance counselors provide us with lists of needs, which become “Hope Tree ornaments.”   Families take an ornament, provide for those needs, and bring them back to the trees during the first three weeks of November.  We get those back to the school right before Thanksgiving so they can distribute them before Christmas!

Phase Two: Tower Road Christmas

Part of this year’s Hope Tree will be a deep expansion into our ongoing Tower Road ministry.  Glenda Murphy is working out details now, and we will be talking a lot more about it over the coming weeks. I am really excited about this, because it will give us a chance to expand our already growing relationship with our new friends.

Pregnancy Center Support

If you were present on Sunday morning, you probably received a baby bottle to fill with change over the next two weeks. We’ll be collecting those back on Sunday morning, October 18 during both worship services.  100% of the bottle money collected will go straight to the Pickens Pregnancy Center in Jasper.

Personal Level

Share Christ with a friend, a neighbor, a co-worker.

Sure, sharing with a friend may be intimidating, or even feel kind of “old school,” but the Kingdom of God advances one heart at a time.  That is His plan from the start. Maybe your group can commit to holding each other accountable to praying and sharing together.  Remember, “We are ambassadors for Christ, and God is making His appeal through us.”  (2 Corinthians 5:20)
