[Podcast] Responding To The Call To “Love Others”

RespondingToTheCall02

It is easy to say that you love others, but how do you know if you really actually love?  So much of our music, literature, and media is devoted to the concept of love, but what does love really look like among us?

Life group Discussion Questions are up next!

If you are the discussion leader, please have everyone in your group open to this page on their mobile device. Take turns reading questions, verses, and having discussion.

Okay, so this installment may be a little redundant for your group.. I am talking about the value of groups, when you are already in one!  BUT, it is always good to stop and remember why we are doing what we’re doing, isn’t it?

On Sunday, I asked you to come up with five names of people that have helped you become who you are today.  Can you name one of them? How did they affect your life?

What was the point I was making about the five people, vs. the five sermons?

I talked about how, for some people, Church is just a “sermon factory.”  What do you think I meant by that, and do you agree with it?

I also said that one of our biggest shortcomings is that we are forcing the timeless into a weekly production.  What do you think about that?  Do you agree, or disagree? Why do people do this?

In addition, I said that people choose not to be part of a life group, not because of TIME, but because of COMFORT.  Has that ever been true for you? What do you think about that?

How did you feel about that little experiment we tried around Galatians 6:2, which says, “Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ?”

We also talked through the “Lifegroup Charter Verse…”  Are we doing these things?  How?  Why not?  What needs to change?

1 Thessalonians 5:14
Brothers and sisters, we urge you to warn those who are lazy. Encourage those who are timid. Take tender care of those who are weak. Be patient with everyone.

Each of us has a contribution to make into the Body of Christ…

Ephesians 4:12
Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.

According to the next four verses, what should the result of that be?

Ephesians 4:13-16
This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ. Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.

What did you think of that “sponge illustration?”

We are having a “life group launch” on Sunday, August 28.  Will you be there?  Who do you know that should be?

By the way.. We really need new group leaders, and YOU have experience!  Are you interested?

Hebrews 10:24-25
Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
