Why We’re Talking About Marriage This Sunday

Marriage is designed and created by God.  It is the primary way we relate to others in our lives, and it is the foundation our society is founded upon. Most importantly, Marriage tells us a lot about God. That’s why He designed it in the first place… He is eager to show us something about Himself in marriage!  Unfortunately, marriages today are far too often characterized by conflict, stress, doubt, and pain.  About 50% of marriages fail.  Let’s face it.  Marriage isn’t what it is supposed to be anymore.  And the picture that God wants to draw for us has been marred.  When we forget what marriage is for, we lose sight of who God is!

Over the next four weeks, we’ll be digging into the big picture that God wants us to see in marriage.  Catching a fresh vision for this can strengthen our marriages and change our perspective on our entire lives!  I really hope you’ll join us as we rediscover God’s purpose for our marriages.

I tis so important to know what God’s truth is for marriage and stay in that truth. Marriage is not always easy, and Satan does not want us to stay in a marriage covenant. He wants us to do exactly opposite of what the Bible tells us. Many times spouses are lured away by Satan’s lies in believing that they are “destined” to be with another person. My spouse, after 33 years of marriage, 3 1/2 years of dating/engagement before that, left me for a woman (and she left her family too), both of them saying the Holy Spirit led them to be together. Satan’s lies can sound so sincere and truthful. Praying this series will lead others into working hard to stay in their committed relationship!!

Wow, Catherine. That is amazing. I agree with you that the lies of the enemy will deceive. It is so easy to give in to emotional highs in our lives, but Scripture tells us to guard our hearts. I am so sorry that you have been put through this, but I know that ALL things work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. (Romans 8:28)
